    Outing Gay Rappers…
    August 5th, 2007

    by Enrique Cruz

Recently, there’s a ‘lotta talk this side of town about: who is the “gay rapper?”

Personally, I’m not a big fan of “outing” closet gays…especially those that make earn their money from being straight…but, like everyone else, I enjoy the homo erotic trend in music videos and playing the guessing game…roll tape:

Drop me your own thoughts on the issue!

I feel like we’ve been having this conversation for the last 10 years now. It was so provocative then, but now I am not so sure what the point is anymore. I am more interested in how we can create an environment where we can have an openly gay rapper doing his/her thing on a mainstream scale.

      LOL…FUNNY VID.

    3. Aaron-Leonard Says:

I don’t think gay rappers will ever be respected in music. The reason behind me saying this is because mainstream rap lyrics are full of masculine and anti-gay topics. If there is already a gay rapper amongst us, he/she is not being real to them self, and hiding because he/she must be afraid of what everyone will say.

If an out of closet musician would like to do R&B/Pop then it wouldn’t be much of a problem.

I think the hip-hop world is too full of the macho bullshit, therefore a gay rapper will never be respected. And that’s a shame, because they are a lot of talented gay men and women who can contribute to the hip-hop world. So actually, the narrow-mindedness of the ones putting this blockade in the hip-hop world are making the hip-hop world their own worst enemy.
